A fast-growing HR tech platform expanded from 5 to 25 countries in 18 months. Each new country meant new banking relationships, new compliance research, and new manual payment workflows. Finance headcount couldn't scale with geography — the team of 3 was being asked to run payroll in Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, Poland, and 21 more countries simultaneously.
